We are fortunate that each of our daughters makes the effort to bring their children to Sarasota for a visit during spring training. Wendy brought Amelia (11) and John (8) from Dallas to Sarasota in early March. Since John is such an avid sports fan, we arranged for field passes for them to observe batting practice from the field prior to the game they attended. Here John and Amelia watch the Orioles take batting practice while the Blue Jay players get loose to their left.
The Orioles logo is roped off to keep it looking pristine.
The media are allowed on the field during batting practice. There are lots of reporters and cameras. Did you ever wonder when and where the taped interviews are done at baseball games?
This was the view of the game from their seats. Not very many empty seats to be found.
They could also look up at the press box.
On another day of their visit, we went on a family bike ride along the Legacy Trail between Nokomis and Venice. Here we were taking in the view of the inter-coastal waterway from one of the bridges where the trail crossed the water.
We went to Siesta Key Beach to enjoy happy hour and watch the sunset. Paul is with John on the left and Amelia on the right.
The award winning sunset we were waiting for finally came.
